Company Overview

Specializing in the midstream segment of the natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGLs) industry, the company operates approximately 14,365 miles of pipelines and has underground storage facilities with a capacity of roughly 205 billion cubic feet of natural gas and 24 million barrels of NGLs. Their infrastructure supports a wide range of customers, including those in power generation, LNG production, and the petrochemical industry. With a history of strategic growth and expansion, the company continues to play a vital role in the transportation and storage of energy resources in the United States.

Challenge

With an aging, complex HFM application, the client needed a cloud solution that retained all HFM functionality while reducing complexity. They sought seamless data integration, robust security, and improved performance, aiming to leverage modern cloud technologies for better scalability and lower maintenance.

Solution

A new Oracle EPM Cloud Close and Consolidation solution was implemented using the Extended Dimensionality model. This allowed for four large custom dimensions while providing unique intercompany and full management reporting with multiple hierarchies. Additionally, this solution enhanced data accuracy and streamlined the consolidation process, significantly improving overall efficiency.

Result

While some customization was necessary due to the complexity of the functional needs, the solution simplified 1500+ lines in a single business rule to a combination of smaller, more manageable rules with dynamic calculations that were far more flexible. This approach not only reduced maintenance efforts but also enhanced the system’s adaptability to future changes.
